The Mighty Oak
This beauty is over 200 years old. I know this from talking with the Game Commission Officer who stopped by to investigate the multitude of flashes in the morning sky. One of the shortcomings of painting with flash is … well it’s hard to be inconspicuous while simulating the landing lights at JFK. The tree is enormous. Unfortunately there’s nothing in the photo to provide a sense of scale, so below is the scene with silly old me armed to do battle with my trusty flash. The shot also reflects the level of daylight while I was shooting.
Fascinating! The effect is just magical! Absolutely magical.
I believe there might be a geocache in close proximity to that old massive oak.
