Wind … Friend or Foe

Wind blown leaves

For the most part, I’m not very fond of wind. I usually don’t want my subject moving, so it’s often a waiting game until until the breeze moves on and the leaves settle back into place. Today I decided to go with the flow (no pun intended) and use a long exposure to add soft touch to the image. And though it was very windy, there are still lulls in the action and with 30 second exposures, timing is an issue because I’d like motion throughout the exposure. Branches and leaves can be moving around nicely and then right after the shutter opens … nothin’. Once again, proof that photographers are never satisfied.
