Milling Machine
Light-painting can quickly take you to school when it comes to understanding how light plays off of different surfaces and when it comes to choosing a subject my ‘go-to’ is machinery. You have highly reflective to dull, textured surfaces and everything in between. Add a little dirt, rust, and a touch of paint and the light from your torch (As they call them in the UK) is going to be ever so happy. Granted, you won’t see an image like this hanging in any gallery, but caressing a big old hunk of steel into something half way interesting will put a smile on your face.
Special thanks to good friend/photographer Morrie for suggesting a visit to the machine shop where he works that produced the last two day’s images.
Nice work, Larry——I’ll bet Morrie’s fingerprints are all over those machines !
Again! Great job lighting the mill. I did not like the shot I did of one of the mills. Try try again.
