With it being a little too early for flower photography and running out of things to shoot around the house I decided to take on a project that has always fascinated me … Hands. Since mine are usually available and they don’t seem to mind, you’ll be seeing a good bit of them over the next few weeks. I enjoy sculpting with light and typically do this through compositing multiple images. Having a tendency to move, hands don’t allow for that approach, so it’s a return to the days of film where everything is captured in one frame. Digital does allow for retouching that film didn’t offer, but the lighting … all one shot.
Next to the human face, I find hands to be most expressive. I’m not a portrait photographer so while this was a bit challenging, I found it very rewarding. Hope you enjoy!
