The Little Stone Bird
More experimenting with flash compositing. While some of the techniques are similar to light-painting, it lacks the sweeping motion of ‘painting’. While it may appear to be done at night, the sun was up, but I was out of direct sunlight. Camera set to Aperture Priority/2 stops under exposed and since it’s a fairly tight shot, most of the frames were shot with the little Nikon SB-80 set at 1/2 to 1/32 power. I shot about 24 frames and in the end combined 10 of them in Photomatix Pro using Exposure Fusion. That image was then combined with different portions of specific source images. Below is the scene without any flash.
OK, not only am I getting “garden envy”, I am getting “skill envy”!! Love the garden pictures and especially this one, maybe because of the birdbath. The lighting you managed looks very natural. Well done!
Great to read and learn about your process. Beautiful shot and big difference.
